How it works
One canvas, 2,000 × 2,000 pixels, shared by everyone.
Penny Canvas is a permanent, public pixel board in the spirit of r/place. Anyone can paint any pixel, any colour, any time — and anyone can paint over it. Nothing is reserved; what lasts is what people care enough to defend.
01
Pick a spot
Zoom in anywhere. Click a pixel to select it. The coordinates show in the corner, and every spot has a shareable link.
02
Pick a colour
Thirty-two colours. Place one pixel at a time, or switch on the brush and drag to paint up to 50 pixels in one stroke.
03
Pay a penny
Each pixel costs one credit — 1¢. Everyone also gets a free pixel every 5 minutes, so you can always play.

Questions people ask
- Can someone paint over my pixels?
- Yes. That's the whole game. Rally friends, pick a corner, keep it alive. Pixels never "belong" to anyone; the canvas shows who placed the current colour at each spot.
- Is the canvas ever reset?
- No. It's one continuous artwork. The timelapse keeps hourly snapshots so you can watch it evolve.
- What happens if I place a pixel on a pixel that already has that colour?
- It still counts as a placement (and your name goes on it). The client warns you before you spend credits on a no-op.
- What's not allowed?
- Hate symbols, harassment, sexual content, personal data, and bots. See the canvas rules. Offending pixels are reverted and the account is suspended without refund.
- Refunds?
- Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Details in the refund policy.
- Can I use a bot?
- No. Automated placement gets accounts suspended. The brush tool is as fast as it's meant to get.
